The smell of the mimosa and magnolia blossoms early in the morning.

You?

Newly mown grass, the smell of coconut sunblock, the feel of the sun on my skin, watching little birds leaving their nests, going barefoot.................................

The varied call of the Cicada, frogs and bugs singing on steamy nights, home-grown tomatoes, watermelon, moonrise, air-conditioned comfort, and eventually - summer's end.

Honeysuckle, fireflys, summer rain, watermelon, fresh garden veggies and Strawberries.

and summer storms that are not damaging, but a magnificient display of Mother Nature.

Not getting up at 6:30 AM Monday-Friday to go to work. Not grading papers and preparing lectures, homework assignments, study guides, exams, and PowerPoint presentations until midnight Sunday-Thursday.

Having coffee and a bowl of fruit and cereal at a leisurely pace while watching The Today Show.

Sitting on the patio and enjoying being outside, listening to the white noise of the fountain in the koi pond.

Sitting with my hubby on the front porch swing after he mows the grass and I pull weeds, having a cold drink.

Good tomatoes.

Vidalia onions.

Fresh basil from the garden.

Peaches from South Carolina.

Good corn on the cob.

Creole tomatoes (need some now)

porch time with a good book or with good friends

spending time on the beach in the early morning or late afternoon/evening relaxing and breathing in the incredible beauty.

a more relaxed schedule, more time for family and friends, gathering with an intimate group with good food and wine. and a margarita or two.

a refreshing swim!

burgers on the grill.

fish fry!

crawfish boil! (just did this the other day - delicious!)

oysters on the halfshell at the beach

a cold heinekin on the beach

is it all about the food or what?

oh, my very favorite is a good rain storm on a summer afternoon that lasts a few hours and cools us off for a while. and the deafening symphony of frogs all in and around the bayou that follows.

The icy shower after a sweltering run. The beach bag already packed and in the car for the early morning trip to Grayton. PORT ST. JOE for scallops. Sangria. Visiting friends and family. Cold Shrimp Salad.
The four tell-tale tans: Runners tan (pale ankles and feet), Keen Sandals tan (striped feet), Kayak Tan (legs tan in front and pale on the backs), Grayton Tan (burned every place that was not underwater or protected by sunglasses).
