Some GOP just don't get it

This is what Jim DeMint's PAC stands for:

The SCF policy goals include:

  • Strengthen national security
  • Oppose appeasement
  • Eliminate wasteful spending and keep taxes low
  • Promote energy security
  • Secure our borders
  • Expand private health insurance
  • Give parents more school choices
  • Reform Social Security and Medicare
  • Confirm good judges
  • Support and defend the Constitution of the United States
Just so my liberal friends can go out of their mind, here is another Tea Party leader's PAC goals:

Sarah Palin's Official PAC

Dedicated to building America's future, supporting fresh ideas and candidates who share our vision for reform and innovation.

SarahPAC believes America's best days are ahead. Our country, founded on conservative principles and the fight for freedom, must confront the challenges of the 21st century with integrity, innovation, and determination.

SarahPAC believes energy independence is a cornerstone of the economic security and progress that every American family wants and deserves.
SarahPAC believes the Republican Party is at the threshold of an historic renaissance that will build a better future for all. Health care, education, and reform of government are among our key goals. Join us today!

Let me translate:

  • Strengthen national security - continue the crusade in the middle east to eradicate Muslim's calling it a push for democracy
  • Oppose appeasement - allow complete and total intolerance in America, if you're not white and protestant get ready for specific laws based on your ethnicity, race, religion, or anything else we deem as different.
  • Eliminate wasteful spending and keep taxes low - continue building the debt and getting people to believe it's all the democrats fault.
  • Promote energy security - drill anywhere anytime, then see point one when we run out of domestic oil.
  • Secure our borders - stop the Mexicans, this can be done using point number three.
  • Expand private health insurance - repeal government health care.
  • Give parents more school choices - privatize the education system so that rich kids aren't kept behind by poorer kids.
  • Reform Social Security and Medicare - privatize social security (Wall Street doesn't have enough money) and make Medicare almost impossible for a PHD holder to navigate.
  • Confirm good judges - judges who have little to no basic knowledge of the law, but will use the bible for rulings rather than law.
  • Support and defend the Constitution of the United States - run the country like it's 1776 (You know, subjugate women, slavery, etc.)

As for Palin's PAC, that's nothing more than a funnel to put money in her pocket. Do you really think she can even spell renaissance, much less use it properly in a sentence?

My question is when are the local Constitutional Conservatives going to start the "Let's build a Four-Lane Toll Bridge across Choctawhatchee Bay" campaign as I don't see how that bridge gets built with non-federal dollars (i.e. no earmarks).

If it's a private toll bridge, private funds would foot the bill. Why would federal money be involved?

The point is that the bridge is necessary public infrastructure, to solve the solution by lining the pockets of a few is disgusting.

You see the world through rose tinted glasses. The private sector is not your enemy.

I don't remember saying that. :idontno:

My point is that the current debacle that is the Mid-bay bridge doesn't need to migrate East. That bridge has turned into an 'authority' that is never going to simply repay the bonds issued and operate within it's original intent.

I guess big government is bad, but big government/private partnership is good?

At least the Mid-Bay is financially solvent right now, for all that their full Niceville bypass plan is honestly not going to save enough commuters enough time that it will be widely used, and I suspect they'll up fares shortly on the bridge proper to make up for the loss they're taking on the toll road.

The Garcon Point Bridge is Florida's real 'Bridge to Nowhere' situation, complete with a struggle to not default on bonds.

While spending a couple of days in Tallahassee this year or last, and House member from Pensacola asked our delegation what we thought of a toll bridge for 331. After expressing opposition, personally, he advised me that representatives from Walton County had been there discussing it. Whether it was the private group or someone from our local elected contingent I do not know, but it has been discussed in Tallahassess. Still does not change my opposition to earmarks and this is infrastructure improvements and should be based on merit not on politics.
