To put a positive spin on this, it looks like I've gotten a really good movie recommendation out of all this. I'll have to check it out.

Not the smartest move by Ginger but I believe what she did was a selfless act and it would have been a great opportunity for some back up from her buddies sitting in their chairs. I believe she put no thought in her actions. She just did. Some people run for safety when trouble brews and some step up to the plate. She showed America what she is all about and I would want her on my team in a pinch. I would make sure she had a brick though.

Oh come on! You know we're always hearing stories of people who were robbed of their guns at pursepoint.

Someone tries to take me hostage, they are getting attacked with whatever I can find - typically a purse or something in it. Hell, I'll put my camera in a sock and beat you with it.
Not saying that is always the smartest move, but it's how some of us are programmed.
Somehow we got on the topic of self defense at dinner one night and of all the dirty and maiming tactics we were taught, both Mama Scooterbug and I ONLY draw the line at gouging out someone's eyes with our fingers.
I think we'd get along real well with Ginger.

I admire her courage and compassion: she did not want to leave her colleagues and she did go up against the guy ...but....
I hope all public officials who attend these meetings get some training on what to do in a similar situation...and maybe install some security measures in the meeting rooms...

Probably the same place he got the rifle he used to shoot at his wife when he was stalking her. Or at the recent gun show.

Felons know other felons and can get guns easier than the average Joe.
