Scott scraps Orlando to Tampa rail project

Please remember that Scott bought his office and gave the middle finger to the GOP establishment politcos who have been involved in the trenches for years. I have a feeling they don't much care how bad he ends up looking.

well, there is that too....

The Florida Supreme Court has upheld Gov. Rick Scott's authority to kill a proposed Orlando-Tampa high-speed rail line backed by President Barack Obama.

But the court sided unanimously with Scott, and delivered a terse, one-page ruling.

"The Court has reviewed the petition, response, and reply, has heard oral argument, and has considered the factual allegations and legal arguments," reads the ruling. "Based on the limited record before the Court and a review of the federal and state law relied on by the parties, the Court has determined that the petitioners have not clearly demonstrated entitlement to .... relief. Accordingly, the emergency petition is hereby denied."

A spokesman for Scott said the governor is "gratified" by the decision.

"He is now focused on moving forward with infrastructure projects that create long-term jobs and turn Florida's economy around," Brian Burgess said in a prepared statement.

He's is only focused on the infrastructure of keeping big oil comfortably busy with asphalt roads and more cars to suck up more gas. Again, a two step backward approach to re-creating the jobs of the past, as opposed to those of the future.

and approve high speed rail. let's create some sorely needed construction jobs. let's see beyond wider highways, middle east chaos, and offshore drilling. lets get our collective heads out our asses.

.. and lets do it all with borrowed money from China, so we don't have to pay for it.

I like the idea of expanding our ports personally, we should leverage the resources we have. Boondogles might create jobs today, but they rob us of funding later that would be spent on useful infrastructure, education, and social services.

Let me say this loud and clear! I am for the high speed rail between Tampa and Orlando. Let me also say this loud and clear! As long as its built with private and not taxpayer's funds.
