G.O.P. Immigration Plan

New posts
Does it have flaws? Certainly, but it is a good feeling to know that Obama is actually going to do something. The House had plenty of time, they did nothing. Obama decided to do something, don’t become mad because you don’t like the result, blame the guys that prompted him to do something in the first place.

I am told there is a House Immigration Bill sitting in the Senate and has been there for some time. If this is true, as it is of 386 other bills Harry Reid saw fit not to bring up, you cannot, in good concience, blame the Republicans alone for not presenting the Senate passed bill. Half truths don't cut it but the seem to be rampant in this country.

Your 386 number is a half truth.

The Senate passed a major immigration reform bill on June 27, 2013 by a vote of 68-32. The House has yet to bring the bill up for a vote. I doubt you can find a half truth in that statement.

I am well aware of the Senate Bill sitting in the House. The main reason, according to Republicans, that it hasn't been brought up is border security issues.

Normally, the House should write its own immigration bill, with provisions they would prefer, such as more border protection, etc.
Then the two bills would be reconciled and a workable law would be produced. The House Republicans can't seem to wrap their brains around immigration because there is neither money nor votes in it for them.

Lets forget that for a moment and concentrate on getting still Senate majority leader Reid to bring up any of the over 300 bills sitting in the Senate, one of which I am told, is an immigration bill from the House. On second thought, never mind, the Republicans will correct that in January and then the President can veto those he don't like and we will all know where he stands.
