OMG, Shoot Me Now

I think we have different classes of firearms.
1. Those made and designed for hunting game.
2. Those made and designed for competitive shooting.
3. Those made and designed for combat. Their purpose is to kill the enemy.
4. And then there are firearms that are made and designed for protection. I think most handguns fall into this category.

Where does an AR-15 with a 30 round magazine fit?

Where does an AR-15 with a 30 round magazine fit?

I've shot one many times. They are attractive because they are serious. Because they are powerful. Because they are dangerous. I understand why macho guys want them. No one can make a cogent argument why civilians need to be able to buy them. Or why they aren't heavily regulated.

Still, the mental health aspect is more of an issue it's just a lot more complicated and harder to solve so people point to guns. Both sides have valid points.

As for the original intent of the 2nd amendment to keep a tyrannical government in check?
I don't think a militia with AR15s is going to match a government with bio-weapons, cruise missiles and Apaches.

The AR-15 was originally designed as a weapon of war, for man-killing and not for hunting or for target shooting — this is an obvious fact. But this is also true of most popular firearms throughout history, including your grandpa’s lever action hunting rifle and your dad's .30-06 Springfield rifle.

Despotic governments are very afraid of an armed population. That's why the British seized our "military grade" muskets as part of their gun control program that preceded the revolutionary war.

To this very day despotic government's typically begin their reign with gun control.

There is a misunderstanding of the 2nd amendment. One must read it and the historical supporting documents.
The 2nd is not about hunting or personal protection, because in historical context...thst was a given.
The 2nd (in simple terms) is to give citizens the ability to arm itself against the government.
