13,000 protest Governor's plan to change collective bargaining for public employees

I read an update after the initial amount that 2 firefighters (retired as I recall - not that it makes any difference) between them pulled out another $600,000. That's where the larger amount came from - an update to the first report. :idontno:
Anyway, they are using methods other than violence in this case.

Hard to get a straight story - I'm only finding the 192K number.

No matter what it seems a little ridiculous as the total amount donated to Walker's campaign by the executives (not by the company as that isn't allowed) is a whopping $46,308.

And M&I bank is in the midst of a merger/takeover by a Canadian bank - Harris/Bank of Montreal.

Agree that it's interesting to see and that non-violent is always good.

I'm sure an audit would show conveniently timed bonuses. I think it's perfectly okay for the public to exercise their right to pull their money from a bank. I'm sure that'll be the next thing on the governors agenda, reason based withdrawal.

Yeah, you're right about the withdrawals. Its certainly no worse than the "easing of the monetary" situation.

The crisis that wasn't - Wisconsin school breaths a huge sigh of financial relief:

"This is a disaster," said Mark Miller, the Wisconsin Senate Democratic leader, in February after Republican Gov. Scott Walker proposed a budget bill that would curtail the collective bargaining powers of some public employees. Miller predicted catastrophe if the bill were to become law -- a charge repeated thousands of times by his fellow Democrats, union officials, and protesters in the streets.

Now the bill is law, and we have some very early evidence of how it is working. And for one beleaguered Wisconsin school district, it's a godsend, not a disaster.

I thought the collective bargaining thing was interesting - the monopoly that the teachers union had on healthcare was completely broken by Walker's budget. Now all of the sudden, they are being forced to compete. Welcome to the free markets!!

Yep, I can't find the example I posted of the Fort Atkinson school being able to save millions under the new rules - mainly because that meant they didn't have to buy the health insurance FROM THE COMPANY OWNED BY THE TEACHER'S UNION.

Talk about a conflict of interest.
