8.9 quake/tsunami hits Japan

New posts
Fox news has a pretty good pictures slideshow linked on their home page.

Not to be combative, but Fox news seems detached emotionally in their delivery of the news many times. I like watching it when I feel like poking fun at what they say. Sad, but honest.
In all fairness, we need all the media we can get.
Everyone has something important to say. I just like Anderson Cooper :D
I need to get over it, but why?

I guess I should have multiple posted on one post like everyone else does
It was all kind of spur of the moment, not planned, oh well :D

Personally, I think the best news information is emotionally detached. Everything else just bumps ratings instead of giving good information.

On another topic, did anyone notice Google's reaction to the event? Google boasts of having a clean front page, but they added a new link, front and center:

Resources related to the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.

Check out how technology is helping in catastrophes. They have set up an information page, with resources for many things, including a people finder/people found page, so that people can get in touch with loved ones. Out of all the companies in the world, Google tends to impress me the most with powerful little things which turn out to be the big things.

That's a good thing to know- thanks:D

Our local DMAT team (FL-1) has been placed on Alert by DHHS for probable deployment to Japan.

Just an update. All DMAT teams that were on Alert have been stood down and will not be deploying to Japan. That may change in a few days depending on the political climate.

Is anybody else second guessing the merits of living within walking distance of the beach?

No, if Mother Nature is determined to kill me she will have to do it in paradise.

Hi Poppy, I like reading your posts:wave:

Nobody has to wonder what you are thinking.

View attachment 19124 Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about getting out there and dancing in the rain.

I come to sowal to relax, laugh, and hopefully offer something positive when I'm not having to straighten Bob out :lolabove:
I told you I was gonna razz you several months ago Bob and I finally got an opportunity
Love ya, and again, not that way :D

The death toll in Japan is rising devastatingly so, but in one instance, I saw a mother looking for her child and had found her alive!!! One good thing in the midst of such vast destruction of human lives.
