A Better South Walton (ABSW), a volunteer organization dedicated to seeking more effective governance and local representation for South Walton, is holding charter workshops to gather community feedback on the recently released charter summary and its impact on the proposed municipality of South Walton. These meetings will give the community the chance to voice their concerns and offer constructive feedback about the charter.

At the first workshop, held September 2, 2016, ABSW welcomed approximately 30 local residents who discussed key components of the charter such as district voting restrictions and term limits while making positive suggestions for changes to the proposed charter.

Additional workshops have now been scheduled to accommodate more members of the community at varying times and locations throughout South Walton.

The remaining meetings will be held:

Thursday, September 22nd
5:30 – 7:30 PM
Rosemary Beach Town Hall
S. Barrett Square
Rosemary Beach, FL

Saturday, September 24th
10:00 AM – Noon
Edgewater Beach Condominiums
Riviera Meeting Room
291 Scenic Gulf Drive

Miramar Beach, FL

To gain a deeper understanding of the charter summary, it can be found in its entirety on the ABSW website.

For more information on ABSW and how you can get involved by signing the petition requesting the opportunity to vote on becoming a town, volunteering, or making a donation, please visit A Better South Walton or email ABSW.

The location for the second workshop has changed and will now be held at the Foster Gallery at the Market Shops, located next to Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Miramar Beach.

Saturday, September 24th
10:00 AM – Noon
The Foster Gallery at The Market Shops
9375 Emerald Coast Pkwy, Suite 30
Miramar Beach, FL
(Next to DIG eatery and Ben & Jerry's)

One area ABSW has failed to address is Law Enforcement. They were quick to simply want to "contract" with Adkinson.

Learn from Destin here as to what contracting services gets you...

If ABSW is serious, they'll look at having our own Public Safety, not contracting.
