Hey-
I have had an impossible time trying to find something. BUT- finally I had a friend in the area tell me about a place and I have finally landed a spot in paradise. I spent a few days over New Years cruising and perusing and had almost no luck with anyone returning my calls and the few that did, called back once I was back home and nowhere near the area. I have tried the whole VRBO.com thing and inquired a few places that had open calendars for the year if they would do a long-term and I got a few replies like "yes, for $3000/mo" (for a 1br/1ba carriage house!!!), for the dates of 2/11-7/31 one response was "$15,000" and another was "$8000". Southern Realty or Southern Coastal Management handles a few LTR, so you may want to check with them. I can totally agree with the whole once you find them, they are already rented...and several times I would have been talking to either an owner or a property manager about a particular place for days at a time and then have the places rented out from under me without any warning or final offer. I am not trying to be negative nancy, but warn you of some of the issues I had and went through. Hopefully not everyone ends up having as much trouble as I have.
I have worked with the folks at 98 Realty and I believe they have a few units at the Highlands in Seagrove, but I read a few reviews on VRBO.com of units in the complex that said the walls were thin and you could hear everything around you- even conversations. I also have dealt with Quinn at Royal Beach Rentals who has been beyond friendly and helpful. My best advice is if you find a place that you are interested in, you pretty much have to jump on it or it will be gone. Another avenue you may want to look into is the townhomes at Summer Place, which are near the intersection of 30A and 393, and are now bank owned. I believe they are renting a few of them out, but of course, are definitely trying to sell them for about $389k. I spoke to one of the tenants who had a very short lease with the bank for about $1200/mo but said in March they told her her rent may go up to as much as $1500, which is how much they were renting for before they went into foreclosure. They are 4br/4ba, 3 story units, with a cocktail deck on top where you can view the gulf, and just a short walk to the beach access there at 393. I inquired about renting one from the agent's name on the sign in front of the complex, but never heard anything back. I wish you much luck and if I think of anything else or hear of anything, I will be sure to let you know!!!
