Another (seperate) oil rig accident in the Gulf

New posts
Correction- it was in a canal not in the gulf. Moderator: can u pls fix the title of the thread so that it says in Louisiana instead of in the Gulf? Thx!

I don't think this would be news if it were not for the Gulf disaster. Small potatoes stuff like this occurs pretty regularly, I think.

At the time I first read it there were less details and it sounded like big news and a developing story.

As it turned out, I completely agree with you and wouldn't mind if this thread was deleted.

No, I don't think it is worth deleting...it demonstrates that the petroleum extraction and processing industry is a dangerous business.

I tried to get people to understand that so much of the 'dirty work' involved in oil drilling isn't the drilling itself, but the servicing and upkeep of the platforms. While there would be a small potential for an oily accident (if drilling occurred in our near shore waters), I promise you it would be a certainty that unpleasant events such as this and debris/noise/vehicle congestion from support services would be the norm.
