Anyone experiencing unusual health issues?

I think some of it has to do with the very dry air we have been having lately and the cold temperatures. I wake up parched every morning from the heater. When the humid sea breeze returns and it is warm enough to sleep with the heat off, my eyes are not itchy and swollen in the morning.

Might want to check your ducts and overall indoor air quality.

Our whole family has been dealing with something since June. There are 5 of us in the house, and at least 2 of us at a time are dealing with it. It seems to last 2-3 months before sort of clearing up. Symptoms are like bad allergies, lots of sinus draining, coughing, etc., but occasionally turns to sinus infections or ear infections. I've dealt with it the longest, and have also had symptoms of possibly a hiatal hernia. We've tried all sorts of drugs, but nothing seems to really help -- loratadine, diphenhydramine, fexofenadine, guaifenesin, pseudoephedrine, prednisone, fluticasone propionate, cefdinir, azithromycin, amoxicillin/clavulanic acid, ibuprofen, ranitidine, omeprazole magnesium

Myself and many people I know who live here have had similar symptons like sever allergies. It comes and it goes and keeps coming back. We also said we wonder what is in the air. It is very contagious because everyone is spreading it so it must be in the air. This all started after the Oil rig explosion and we wonder if the stuff they were spraying in the air could be affecting people? None of us has ever had anything quite like it before especially at this time of year. Hmmm.......

After reading some of these replies I don't feel like I am the only one suffering from UNSEASONAL allergies, or cold or flu or whatever it is that just won't go away! The coughing is really getting to me, just when I think its clearing up I get a relapse .:idontno:

And a partridge and a pear tree:lol:

Sorry. Take this advice and get off as much stuff as possible. And for goodness sake, no more antibiotics or your upper repiratory tract is going to harbor multidrug resistant bugs. Try some saline nasal and sinus flushing at bedtime, the Neilmed flush kit costs about $12 at Publix pharmacy (they keep it behind the counter) and probably similar price at Santa Rosa Pharmacy. It is more effective than a Netti Pot but it is the same principle.

And the one chemical stew I find people who complain about this type stuff being exposed to on a regular basis is whatever is in cigarette smoke, not courtesy of BP. So if you cough and have irritated eyes, nose, etc, don't be a dope and expect it to get any better as long as you expose irritated mucosa to cigarette smoke!

By the way, what happened to the original poster? Sock puppet or spambot? Kinda weird to just drop off the thread.....:idontno:

Don't get me wrong. I like ya, Skunkape, and you always sound like you know what you are talking about. It's just that the whole premise of anonymous website posters exchanging medical symptoms and theories to a wide variety of anonymous website posters, kinda makes me queasy, ya know?

You should have a Volatile Solvents Blood Profile run.

Two questions: 1. Have you presented these findings to the County Health Department and asked them to pursue it?
2. Have you investigated whether a high Volatile Solvents Blood Profile can be common, and perhaps be caused by the fact that we pump gasoline into our cars (and inhale direct hydrocarbon fumes) about every three or four days, and have been doing so since the early seventies.

unususal sickness

I have had it and everytime I think I am better I get it back. This is about the fourth time, but this time I lost my voice, am coughing way to much, and had a sinus infection with it. I have also heard of quite a few people getting pneumonia. Not the kind that puts you in the hospital, but very sick still. I went to the doctor today and I said I don't want to get bronchitis again because it is so hard to get rid of. He said "you had at least that" whatever that means. Said my chest did not said too good when he listened to it. If you have not had it yet you may get it since it is obviously airborne and can come back easily especially I suppose when exposed to those who have it. The doctor said it is going around a whole lot. This time he gave me an antibiotic shot (which will usuallty knock these things out or help a lot) and cough medicine, etc. I was sick for Thanksgiving and don't want to be in bec sick for Christmas. Have you been to a doctor? I hope you feel better soon and everyone else out there who feels bad. My throat is very bad this time to. It just seems to get worse. Good luck.

I wanted to let you know I read your article since I have been sick off and on and now it is really bad for months as well as others. I had wondered if it could have anything to do with the oill spill and chemicals involved. Too many people are dealing with this for it to be a simple bug which keeps returning over and over again. I am from N.O. and moved here in April. Allergies were terrible in New Orleans and when I moved here, they
actually were alot better UNTIL that fateful day and now all of a sudden everyone is sick with the same thing and it will not leave us for good. Thank you for that article. It really helped and I am goingn to get that blood work done since my doctor is getting ready to have some done on me anyway. This is good information anb everyone should read his post lengthy or not. Merry Christmas to everyone!!
