During these economic times more and more families are struggling at the beginning of the school year. Here is one way you can help! A Back to School Supply Drive will be held for the whole month of August at the Coastal Library in South Walton, Hwy. 331 South.

Don’t forget the weekend of August 12th is a tax free holiday for school clothes and supplies. Items can be dropped off during library hours from 9:00 am to 5 pm. Tuesday – Friday and Mondays 9:00am to 8:00 pm. These items will be distributed to children in need at local schools. Items listed below are an example of things needed for the new school year. Many stores have these lists posted and they will also be available at the Coastal Library.

School items needed are:
64 count crayons
construction paper
primary writing tablet
primary journal by Mead (Wal-Mart has them), they are also called early creative story tablets.
10”x7.5” nylon pencil pouch

I will donate.

But is anyone else pissed that our tax dollars are not paying for the necessities of education?

Well no, I can remember back in the 60's these type of items were on the list for the student/ parent to purchase for the school year. I am pissed that teachers have to spend their hard earned money to by stuff for their classrooms though.

I was thinking the same thing. However, I do believe it is a good thing for every family to contribute to their classroom and school whenever they can. Ideally, it would be about supporting/supplying the school in general, not about supplying a list of dozens of items for the student which the school should be able to provide.
