Beware the construction on 30A near Butler...

Because, like North Lake said, it is funded by stimulus money which means it was a "shovel ready" project. There are time restriction on the money and it had to be done now. The contract was actually issued I believe in January. The contractor decided to start it now.

They are still working on plans and engineering on Chat Holly. They are trying to put in a multi-use path along the road, and there are some ROW issue along with money issues.

Also, there is no reason to start repaving until they are done replacing the bridges on Chat Holly. There was an article in the Sun about the bridges being close to completion.

Resurfacing of 30a is about the biggest waste of money I've ever seen. Why??????? It makes no sense at all... and now it looks like they've resurfaced over what they resurfaced... in other words, they've re-resurfaced. What a brilliant way to spend money. There are so many roads, bridges and other country infrastructure that could have used that money and it would have actually been put to good use. This must have been the planning of the same genius that four-laned a road to bottleneck into a two-lane bridge.

First off, it wasn't needed. Secondly, it is a horrible job. It was like driving over Ridgies potato chips.

So Obama is making things easier? Not only is that road a mess, especially in the afternoon with the school, but the north side of the 331 bridge is another one. Took an hour to get through that mess yesterday.
