I am not arrogant enough to say I can fix it but I can say I will try. You should have a right to negotiate with your employer what your wages are.
As far as taxes the legislature does set part of the property taxes, the minimum local contribution. The school board has the responsibility but no authority. The legislature could raise the tax that they are responsible for but I would think raising taxes is unlikely.

Of course being in a county where Republicans outnumber Democrats 2 to 1, nobody wants an increase in taxes, but the truth is we had a tax decrease with falling property values. Funding for educations suffered as a result and before the meltdown Walton county was actually recruiting the best teachers. But to be honest and fair, local school districts need to share some accountability and there is little accountability for their actions. For example, why weren't former teachers rehired when the district has increased the instructional workforce in the last two years? The district won't answer that question even though the colletive bargaining agreement clearly states that former teachers would get first consideration. That wasn't done. Maybe school board member Davis could answer that since the insiders here know him. Of course he won't respond. Obviously there are no penalties in place for accountability of local school districts when they violate the terms of contracts specifically, the collective bargaining agreement. No penalties, no enforcement.
