Here's the issue.
This woman does have some odd views, but she is articulate, doesn't threaten or use profane language. The BCC is well aware of her and her desire to be involved in HER government, which it is. Its all of ours. Yesterday's incident is no surprise to any of the BCC.
I think a proactive approach by the BCC to possible go out of their way and meet with this citizen and fully explain what will happen if the is a situation would be prudent. Have a witness present and explain to her that her views are not a majority issue and that when appropriate, she'll be given her 3 (uninterrupted) minutes to speak.
I just had a horrific thought last night watching that local citizens that are finally waking up may have seen this and will be discouraged from participation.
A woman was physically removed by a law enforcement officer from a public meeting. From what I saw on the video, all she did was attempt to raise and wave her hand to be recognized.
It should also be noted that her 3 min was interrupted by the chair and she did say she wanted her time back...
How many times have attorneys representing developers gone over 3 min? Several. No one stops them.
I'm not defending her agenda, as it is odd. I'm concerned about citizens being removed from public meetings for what appear to be trivial things. I also didn't hear or see a warning to her that she'd be removed.
