Pretty good show on about several aspects about Katrina. The piece that is on right now is about "what went wrong". Just and FYI if your not saturated from it.

I watched it too, and I agree it was a good show with some interesting interviews. Seems like the poor folks in New Orleans were let down by a lot of agencies that should have protected them. I still can't quite grasp why those who chose to remain did so, though. And many are still trying to stay in spite of the toxic hazards, filth, death and destruction. I guess to many it's all they have.

I think the finger-pointing needs to stop for now, though, and all energies should be spent on rebuilding and helping these folks re-claim their lives. Hopefully all have learned from this tragedy so that it is never again be repeated. And hopefully Congress has learned not to turn their backs when asked for funding to build structures, etc. strong enough to protect citizens from such a disaster. The money it would have cost to build a stronger levee system in New Orleans pales in comparison to what it will cost to rebuild!

Sorry I missed that show. What's that saying.."An ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure" (?) Once again, I think it all comes back to education as it almost always does. Until the communities of this country "learn" how to best educate all the children, you will have grave populations of poverty. Breaking the cycle of poverty will not happen overnight, but for many of the poor of NOLA I hope and pray that this unfortunate experience gives them a chance to start again.
