No better way to spend a beautiful Saturday afternoon than joining your friends and neighbors in Seaside for an outdoor President's Day Weekend Concert! Pick up your favorite picnic items, bring your low back chairs or blankets and listen to great music on the lawn of the Seaside Amphitheater.
February 16, starting at 4:00pm, one of SoWal's favorite artists, Eric Essix, will be showcasing his jazz guitar, as well as blues, folk and even straight funk for your listening pleasure. Eric still remains on the smoothjazz.com National Radio Airplay Charts after 14 weeks, with #10 on the Smooth Jazz Indie Star Chart and #25 on the Smooth Jazz Top 50! Eric will also perform at the 2013 Seabreeze Jazz Festival April 21.
Eric’s earliest musical experiences were hearing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan and singing gospel in the church choir. His grandfather bought his first guitar and amplifier, and he taught himself to play by listening to LP’s by Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5 and Al Green. His first exposure to jazz was Wes Montgomery’s California Dreamin’ and about the same time he also discovered the music of Jimi Hendrix. A life-changing experience in 1977 at a Weather Report concert (with Jaco at his peak) influenced Eric’s desire to play and compose instrumental music.
