Beach Lover
For those of you in the know, I had a flip-flop conundrum a little while back when I was picking up some trash on the beach for Earth Day. It was a lone flop that appeared to be left by its owner, and I decided that its proper place was the trash can.
Well today that apparently bit me in the ass. My flops were stolen in front of my face so to speak. Here I am chilling on the beach in Grayton, reading a book by the Dalai Lama entitled ?the Path to Enlightenment? nonetheless. Deep in the throes of karma, self and ?dependent arising,? I was still aware of my surroundings. The relaxing ladies next to me were leaving and a few guys were fishing in front of me. I had noticed a little earlier a scraggly looking bunch heading for deeper waters aka swimming.
I normally park my bike, as I did today, up against the Walton County beach sign on the east access because I don?t have a lock and it?s visible from the shore a couple of hundred yards away. So as people were leaving I decided it was a good time to look up to make sure my bike is still there. It is. But the scragglies are walking by. I notice one of them bend down and pick up something next to my bike.
Surely those weren?t my flops. Everyone leaves their flops by the boardwalk and my lack of perspective has just gotten the better of me, I think. Being inquisitive I decide this merits further investigation. As I approach my bike, the lack of flops stuns me. Putting two and two together, I can see the perpetrators! It had to be them and I couldn?t let them get away.
They were at the end of the boardwalk, boarding a rusted green, beat-up station wagon. How do you approach this situation I thought? Outnumbered and only 99% sure, I had to confront them. And I did. ?Did you steal my flops??
Dudero numero uno with Bush Light in hand on rear driver side, ?No.?
?Well I saw some people that looked like you bend down and grab something next to my bike and now my flops are missing!?
Drunken older lady in middle of rear seat with Bush Light in hand, ?What did they look like??
Me looking through the windows for said flops, ?Brown Rainbows.?
Guilty parties, ?Haven?t seen them.?
Me, ?Well that?s a pretty ****ty thing to do, ya know steal someone?s flops?.?
As I walked away, I was hoping karma is the ***** I think she is?anyways, I'm flopless!
