Gang Related Murder in Bay County

New posts
I know this may seem funny to some of you....and at times I find myself laughing at things I should pay closer attention to. BUT I can tell you this is not one of the things we as Walton County residents should take as a joke. Because of a terrible thing that happened to my sister years ago I became involved with finding out some things that NO ONE wants out because they do not want to scare tourists.

There are some very scary people out there.....and we don't see them where we live, especially on 30A. Every now and then we may rub elbows with one at a Tom Thumb or drive up next to their car at a red light.

I am just suggesting to take this a little more seriously and please be aware that as beautiful as our paradise is Evil does surround it. I've lost two loved ones to it and I do not want to see any of you have to go through this.

God bless the broken families of these boys.

How sad for the people affected by this tragedy. Who cares what the name of the "gang" was, what they wore, how their hair was cut or what their girlfriends looked like. Someone's child is now dead. gone. forever.

We should not dehumanize what happened because of the name of the gang. fierce gang, real gang or not.

If someone had posted this stating that a football player for Arnold High School was shot in the face I have a feeling that this thread would be going in a completely different direction.

Well said. And if anybody did a quick google search on the gang name (I eventually did), you'd see it is no joke. It might be time to take this seriously. You're deluding yourself if you think it only happens in NYC, Chicago and LA.

Like my deleted post earlier, it's already in our backyards (IL) and it is a very serious problem that is discussed on the local news every day. The first thing I hear every morning on my radio alarm is a gang shooting during the night - sometimes multiple shootings.

You're so smart and so right!

I'm so sorry about your family Kat. I started locking my doors when there was a report of gang kids in my neighborhood. I've never seen anything but I have a neighbor that's on top of everything going on. I wish that we could gate it.

BTW Thanks for dinner last night. It was delish!!!!! Paula was beside herself. She couldn't believe how great it was. Long Live D&K's!

Want to be

Crazy White Boys- now there is a serious gang name for ya. I bet they have an effective organizational structure and network like real gangs.

Actually, I bet they are a bunch of wanna-be gangbangers wearing sagging jeans, with stupid haircuts, drug addictions, and the need for money to buy a little bling for their oh so attractive girlfriends- and trying to get some cred by adopting a name. They need a publicist- who chose that dumb name??

I bet they would be laughed right out of town in a larger metro area, after getting their butts kicked.

You describe, quite well, gangs... This boy shot another in the face, killing him. I find your silly qips at the gang name and girlfriend, bling, etc., to be an unfortunately not very funny post.

If they (gang) were in a larger metro area, they'd assimilate into a more established gang and continue to commit crimes.

Want to be Gangs, as you describe this group to fit into, are the most dangerous for no other reason then - they want to make a name for themselves.

I agree this is a tragedy, and I am sorry for the people who suffer a loss through violence. However, I am absolutely positive I described these "gang" members as the thugs they are- I know that very often violence can be random, like what happened to Kat and a childhood friend of mine, but often it is brought on by the company people keep and engaging in the illegal activities that lead to violence- like drug dealing.

I am a bit shocked that Watcher and Seeker haven't told us which sheriff candidate is going to take care of our gang problem- as I recall, that was kind of the focus in the "gangs of Sandestin" conversations- to discredit some and boost others. So, which candidates are going to go after these gangs?

I am not going to use the death of a young person to attempt to establish the credibility of any specific candidate. If you look back in posts, you'll see my critique of some candidate(s) who refuse to admit there is any type of gang problem in our area. (Area being defined as Walton County and its surrounding Counties).

Those candidate(s) are not in the picture any longer. The problem is bigger then any one candidate not acknowledging gang activity. It is a problem with our community in general, refusing to see what is going on and be pro-active about our problems, be they gangs, drugs, etc. I have read posts from officers who both agree and disagree that there is a problem. Education and training are keys to building a law enforcement agency that is properly prepared to address these issues as they continue to grow, and they will. Right now we still have some officers who cannot articulate a good police report, let alone speak to us (the public) about local and regional crime trends.

When our local law enforcement agencies cannot even present a formal stance on "yes we have gangs" or "no we don't have gangs", it becomes a bit of a concern. (Every town in the USA has gangs).

I did not read one bit of gang statitics, discussion, facts, or such, in the elaborate publication (I call it a Mullet Wrapper) that the current administration put out, toting its wonderful accomplishments and patting itself on the back.:floor:

I stated back in a previous post that a recognized member of MS-13 resides (last time I checked) in DFS. I have seen gang related grafitti in resort areas (Latin Kings) and I know of gang members having been arrested (many in the past came from New Orleans area, post Katriana). You can choose to believe or disbelieve, I do not care. I am sure I'll have yet another news article to post up for you to see this is not fiction.:bang:
