George Martin

I really don't know what to say about the passing of this really great man. All the Beatles have said they wouldn't have had the success their achieved, without the immeasurable assistance of "the grown-up upstairs". He had an incredibly astute ability to bring out the best in the boys, and was the epitome of class. All of you should go to YouTube and search "The Making of Sgt. Pepper's" to get a great insight into this man.

Martin's genius was letting the Beatles be in charge of their creativity and then guiding and assisting them in the production of that creativity. Another great behind the scene rock legend was Led Zeppelin manager Peter Grant. He revolutionized the roll of manager by giving the band the freedom to create music while he took care of the business side of their lives and made sure no one screwed them on recording contracts, live concert revenue, and merchandising. He was ruthless in protecting the band but it was necessary in those early days of super rock bands.
