Has anyone tried Bentley's?

New posts
Folks, maybe you hit Bentley's at a bad time or when they first opened. We're neighbors, so of course we want them to do well but honestly the food is terrific and our last visit on Valentine's Day was what you'd expect from a fine dining restaurant.
Please, don't go on impressions from start-up experiences. John and Kandi have a wealth of experience and the offerings are just terrific!

We ate there 3 weeks ago and absolutely loved it. Our service was excellent - the night we were there it seems like everyone was laughing, having a good time and there was a great rapport between the staff/customers. The chef/owner (John) came by to introduce himself and we ended up having a 15 minute conversation about the restaurant, his other endeavors, general topics about kids, etc...Everyone loved the food - among us, we had everything from shrimp (some HUGE stuffed shrimp, some scampi - both fabulous), 3 different filets (the one with the asparagus and bearnaise was the bomb, but so was the one with the red wine/portobellos), and even some stone crab (so flavorful!). The only let down was that they didn't have any scallops that evening, but that's ok as it just gives us an excuse to back ;-) And no, there was no bread, but who needs bread when the meal is so flavorful and fresh?!

So many restaurants to try on 30A, so little time. We always try a few new places to eat each time we're in SoWal to learn more and more about the area (if we can drag ourselves away from the beach, porch, and pool). And we always go back to our old favorites (and we're always on the prowl for new favorites that we can return to again and again and drool about when we're not in SoWal).
