Hurricane Evacuation problems

Hot off the press...

The priority draft was prepared at the last meeting of the NFTCA, prioritizing road construction throughout NW FL. A few key items for this area, in the 1-5 year plan are map ID #s 24, 33 and 35, connecting FT Walton to Niceville, Niceville to Freeport via a new 4-lane, which will likely lead to Eglin AFB not renewing the lease of the current airport (VPS). Map ID #35 calls for 4-laning Hwy 331 from I-10 to the south end of the bridge crossing the Choctawhatchee Bay (Bridges to be included in four-laning).

Also worthy of noting for our area are map ID #s 38 and 40, in the 10-20 yr plan, which are two roads which will connect 30A to the new PCB Airport, and Freeport to the new PCB Airport, both are "limited access" (translation is probably toll road) 4-lanes.

If you have not seen the maps before, go to the link above and click on "Master Plan Map." It is too large to attach. The map for our area is on p4 of 5.
