For up and down 30A a cruiser is the way to go. If you want to get off road some but primarily be on the road, look in to a "hybrid" These are comfortable on the road but will also handle the trail pretty well.
Neither my mountain bike nor my road bike are good for pedaling slowly around 30A, they are built for speed. I need a third one that is designed for cruising with a fruity beverage in a strategically placed drink holder.

THAT sounds like a plan!!!!!
I actually bought the Kona from a man in Tuscaloosa and he met me north of B'ham so I could get it from him. I have some friends in Trussville, and his wife is looking for a bike right now so we can all four have a go at some trails. Nothing TOO scary for me, since I'm a beginner.
I GOT MY BIKE TODAY!! Took it right up to Monte Sano Mt. to try it out on the family trail up there and it is SOOOOO wonderful!!!!!!
The bike trail at Grayton is flat, flat, flat. But it's a fun and easy ride. Which is fine for me and my girls.
