:lolabove: and then drive it!!!! Once again, I am lost just reading this.

I'm glad I can get down there in my sleep, reading directions or maps always makes me feel stupid. My dad gives directions, "turn north on John Doe Rd" (some back road of a secluded neighborhood). Daddy please left or right, I can't find a tree to look for the moss and my compass is broken!

My instructions usually tell people to turn right past the Burger king, Pizza Hut, McDonalds etc. Drives my dad crazy! Lost yes, but you'll never be hungry with me.

Hi cheering -- we are quite familiar with that side, since we're always coming from farther south.

Here's what I would do -- have them take 231 south to Highway 20, and have them head west on 20. That will take them well north of the Panama City logjam.

Don't know where you are headed in SoWal, but from 20 we always head south on 79, which takes us through Ebro and down to 98 on the west side of Panama City Beach. We're in Seacrest so that make sense for us.

If they're headed more toward central 30-A, they might want to take 20 all the way west to 331, then head south.

The above is a good route, I have made it a few times. An alternative route would be to exit off of 231 onto I-10 west (faster speed limits and four lane as opposed to hwy 20) to ... (depends on where you are going)

... if going to SoWal, it is easiest to exit onto Hwy 331 in Defuniak Springs which takes you directly to SoWal. There are several exits off of I-10 which will take you south to the the beaches. Hwy 79 exit, in Ebro will take you straight into the middle of Panty Bra City Beach -- be aware of the road construction. Hwy 20 and I-10 run parallel to each other, so you can snake your way over to Hwy 331 if you choose to do so. I say, if you are unfamiliar with the alternative routes and dislike maps, take the straight shot, and simplest route to follow. ;-)

Remember to bring your sunglasses if you will be getting off Hwy 231 around 4pm or after, because, while the sunset is absolutely beautiful, I can also be blinding.

Makes good sense, thanks SJ :D (and everyone)

We've done this so many times that even my husband doesn't get lost, and he has a bad sense of direction. I tease him by telling him that the only way he knows how to get to work is that he's programmed the directions into his car.

My brother, on the other hand, can to get simple directions. But once when we gave him the 231 to I-10 directions (as SJ suggested), my brother went east at I-10 instead of west, driving an hour before he realized he was going the wrong direction. I mean, he knows where PC is because his in-laws have a place there, and he knows that Seagrove is towards Destin, yet he drove west?

My son inherited his Mom's sense of direction. Meaning he doesn't have one. He was going to drive down from Atlanta to suprise me about 3 years ago. He called his Dad and asked him which exit off I-75 to take to get to Columbus. He was in Valdosta!:funn::rofl:

Didn't need to he came into the world screaming! Hasn't slowed down since. Making up for the extra month of "hatching" time he took. ;-)
