One week at the beach with seaweed - in the water - and cyber bullying

Hi Ellen,

I can't do anything about seaweed or red flags, but if you point out your cyber-bully for me, I'll gladly cyber-kick his cyber-a$$.

I hope you have a great vacation! I know when I go on vaca anywhere, I also hope for perfection, expect less, and am usually pleasantly surprised.

Ellen, I expect perfect conditions when I go to the beach too. I have gotten spoiled living here!

But even though I am a strong swimmer, I stay out of the water on red flag days!

I have been coming for 9 years now and I have come to realize that every year will be different. I have been there when it is perfect, but I have also been there when there was red tide, june grass, rain all week etc. I hope you enjoy your time at the beach june grass and all!!! Just put your toes in the sand and smell the salt water air. Have a cool beverage of your choice if you choose and RELAX!!! Eat good food, shop and listen to the local bands. I hope you have FUNN!!!

Every day is different at the beach! Actually some days are sorta the same but that is the exception.

Me too, I've been to 30A in Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, and there is nothing better than walking into a clean place that I don't have to clean; spending a week where I don't have to drive someone to somewhere or wait in the parking lot to pick them up; the beach is beautiful in rain or shine; and you know what, they've got lots of really goofy fun stuff to do in PCB and Destin if the weather is really awful (if you need a list, I'll get it to you).

Can't wait to get back in July. Vacation is what you make it. But the beach is the beach is fickle Mother Nature.....so you have to be ready for whatever it brings. You have to keep your mind open to all the possibilities and most of all BE FLEXIBLE. There is always something to do or enjoy. You just have to have a Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C.

Ellen, I hope your vacation turns out just as you picture it to be. One more suggestion. Find a high place overlooking the beach and gulf and spend 30 minutes or so just sitting and watching the water, people walking and, hopefully, the dolphins playing and feeding. It really won't matter which flags are flying at the time. The peace and serenity received from this time will be wonderful. Take it from one who is most fortunate to be able to do it whenever he wishes. With all its supposed warts and blemishes, I would now wish to live no where other than SoWal.
