Cleburne, Texas to be exact.
Today was my friend Martha's surprise 50th birthday party in Cleburne, where she has lived all her life. Her friends there organized a party and Sunkist and I ventured south to attend. Before we left, I called my other friend Tina to get directions and she informed me that the party was still on, but yet another friends mother had passed away on Friday and that Martha might have to leave the party and go to the funeral "visitation". We arrived, greeted other guests, hid in the laundry room and yelled "SURPRISE" at the appropriate time. She was shocked! The beer started flowing and about an hour into the party, Martha explained that she must go to the visitation, but that she would return soon. Well, before you knew it, ALL of us decided we should go to the visitation. Six of us anyway, who have been friends for many years. So, we all piled into the USS Martha (her Escalade) with our beer and headed to the funeral parlor. We hugged our friend, saw lots of people I hadn't seen since I was a size 8, and laughed at some old stories about the dearly departed. We then all piled back into the USS Martha and went back to the party. All in all, a hell of a party.
