I don't disagree that it is citizens' responsibility to hold our elected officials accountable--however, and it is a big however IMO--elected officials, especially ones who have been around as long as Allen Boyd has--should have a public servant attitude enough so that they take some initiative!

When did Congressman Boyd hold a town hall meeting in South Walton to discuss the citizens need for a better evacuation route? i. e.., four laning of highway 331?

We have a responsibility to call him--and many of us do--he also has a responsibility as an elected official to look into the major needs and issues of his district.

I have known Al Lawson for 30 years--and as I said before, we would not have had to call him--and he would have been effective in both Washington and Tallahassee.

So, shall we set up a Town Hall meeting on the Four laning of Highway 331 and invite Boyd and Miller and all the BCC? Wonder who would show up? Or do we just continue to fund more trips to DC and hire more consultants? Or do we wait for a Republican to be elected and get that Toll Road for sure?

The only part of 331 that is in Congressman Boyd's district is four-laned.

I think we shot ourselves in the foot by putting so much emphasis on a toll bridge. I am with Murray on this one, it's a bad idea.

Besides the bridge is practically four lanes wide already, I'm no engineer but shouldn't we consider an alternative using what we have. Just saying.

In some way, the redistricting by the Legislature in 2002 (?) which put District 2 in South Walton could have hurt us. 331 from the Bay north is Miller and 331 South is Boyd, does that work well for us?

One of the unfortunate things about smaller goverments and reducing government spending is that it can take longer for goverment to build roads.

There ain't no free lunch.

If we want the road widened, then why don't we do it? Why does the federal government need to be involved at all? Fund the project somehow and do the work.

Yet, the answer to 331 is to get some politician in washington to earmark the work into another bill? Sounds like we want our new bridge for free. (Or actually, we want future generations to pay for it, with interest.)

I don't give you a lot of love shopper but you get one here.

We want it all, we want it now and we want someone else to pay for it.

Have a good day.
