Real Ethics

I'm amazed and amused at local officials' view of ethical behavior. After reading the selective ethics codes that the state uses it is obvious that politicians have no clue as to the meaning of right and wrong. Ethics around here seems to be: 'If you can get away with it, it's ethical'. As far as the Sunshine Law, I once asked a school district official about some odd decisions the school board made and my representative told me, "the law doesn't require us to reveal that information". Transparency?

I'm not sure any politician all the way up to the top understands what transparency actually means. They seem to have defined it as 'telling people what you want them to believe'. Hopefully the Webster people will not incorporate that definition into the next round of dictionaries. Selling false security is all they want to do I am afraid.
