Seawall Decision in Today's Paper

I have tried to stand between these two forces, saying that we need emulate neither the "do-nothingism" of the complacent councilors nor the hatred and despair of the Seahighlanders. For there is the more excellent way of love and nonviolent protest. Seawalls on Public Beach. The commissioners decided to postpone any decision on approving seawalls or Pro Tech Tubes on the public beach. According to the county there are approximately 40 structures that have been identified thus far as having been built on public property. Twenty two structures have been identified in the Seagrove area. The rest are in other areas of the beach where private property does not extend to the high water mark.

The commissioners want to communicate with the Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) to try to determine how many of the structures would meet state criteria but for their location on public property. They want to narrow the focus to only those armor structures that would otherwise be approved by DEP.

The decision of whether to approve any walls or tubes on public property will be made after communication with FDEP. The final decision will be made by the county commissioners in a future public meeting.

New Seawalls. An attorney for four homeowners challenged a staff letter regarding their application to FDEP for seawalls. These applicants do not have seawalls but want to build one. FDEP requires that a letter be submitted by the county that states that the proposed structures do not contradict county regulations. The county staff concluded that the proposed structures would contravene the Comprehensive Plan prohibition against activities or structures that would create erosion. The homeowners challenged the staff position.

The acting commissioners unanimously supported the county position. (Commissioner Cuchens recused himself)

One would probably have to venture off of 30A to purchase a hockey mask. As Halloween is rapidly approaching, perhaps the masks can be purchased at places selling Halloween costumes.

Tonight was hockey mask night at the Atlanta Thrashers. If I'd read this thread in time, I'd have taken little Tis down to get one for you!

I can attest to this! I have been accused of naming Rapunzel's bathroom stash the "shrinking kit". In truth, I don't think I named it. I wasn't quite creative enough for that. But I may have laughed the loudest and the most frequently!
