STARS in SoWal - light pollution

I was very happy to see, a few nights ago when we were out near our property, that the stars are brilliant in the sky. Coming from ZERO light pollution I was concerned they would be dim, but I was pleasantly surprised. Able to see the Milky Way and several of my familiar galaxies. Nice touch - now, a night on the beach with no moon must be spectacular.

The night sky there is magnificent! Our favorite thing to do at night is sit outside and spot satellites. If you look closely you can spot them. Our record so far is 5 in one night. It is a learned skill. ;-) Happy Stargazing!

Three times in the past two weeks, while walking the dog before bed-time, I've seen shooting stars! I'm truly enjoy those pitch-black, moonless nights of Pt. Washington, where the "light" you enjoy is solely due to the starry sky. I don't miss "the city".

Walton County recently enacted a lighting ordinance that should minimize future light pollution and gradually reduce what's already in place over time. I forget how long is allowed between the ordinance date and when existing properties must come into compliance....
