do you guys remember when this book came out ? we watched the new version of the movie tonight (it was decent) and i was just thinking about how scared i was when i read the book. then how cheated i felt when i learned that all that stuff was supposed to have been made up by the lutzes about being driven out etc. they had a show on a+e about all that. i guess the defeo's who owned the house and were murdered were a pretty dysfunctional family and the son who shot the family was abused by his father and also was a drug addict.

Yeah, I remember reading the book and totally buying into the whole thing.
Then years later I either read or saw a TV show which discounted some of the phenomena, and explained other parts. Weren't the flies real?
