He graduated high School from Sacred Heart where his mother is a secretary. Herrara also said Corp was "one of the best basketball players in the region" and an engineering student.
More than 300 people lit candles in his memory Thursday at the school after hearing the news of his death.
Balbontin was a student at the University of Valparaiso and worked as a model, Herrera said. She was studying tourism and had arrived in the United States in December for a six-month stay. Herrara said she was studying tourism and was in her last year of school. She and her boyfriend, victim Francisco Cofre, were to be married sometime after they returned to Chile."
