A bunch of those houses are going to seed, too. Have you seen the blighted neighborhood of abandoned houses on the south side of 98 just east of Buddy's in Inlet Beach? The scene literally looks like a post Katrina neighborhood.
Yep, but IIRC that was in progress before the market turn down.
I would guess that the 45 day holiday moratorium also dragged out foreclosures.
I don't know that the banks are slow because they want to keep them off the books, I think they are slow because they don't have the staff to properly process all of the foreclosures and short sales.
I'm wondering if they're not dragging their feet to see if a politician is going to go for a mortgage bail out. I would imagine that they can't sell off loans already off their books.
