Walton County Marijuana Moratorium Hearing 2/14/17

The good news is its a 90 moratorium (NOT 8 months) simply to allow the BCC to decide the perimeters of where medical marijuana can be sold or grown. It's good news for the constituents! The majority of the BCC agreed that the plight of many who spoke who were directly impacted by an 8 month moratorium just might not have that kind of time and they recognized that this is about compassionate care and needed to be done ASAP.

From the BCC meeting...

Medical marijuana will be allowed in Walton County with a 90 day moratorium in place only on those properties currently restricted from the sale of alcohol within the unincorporated areas of Walton County. Commissioner Melanie Nipper will lead public forums leading to final rules presented to the full Board of County Commissioners. Several passionate people spoke to Commissioners including Frank day, Carolynn Zonia Lynda Diann and Dr Don Riley, MD Retired. the Citizens of Walton County now have the opportunity to participate in creating the ordinance language.
