The Walton Board of County Commissioners is accepting application for citizens to serve on a volunteer committee to assist the Board with local RESTORE projects. This council will make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on the merits and suitability of local projects to be funded by RESTORE funds.

The Board is currently looking for citizens/representatives that fall under the following categories:

  • Commissioner
  • Elected City Official
  • Environmental
  • Coastal Restoration/Management
  • Business/North & South
  • Tourism Industry
  • Fishing Industry
  • Health & Human Services
  • Economic Development
  • Community Leader
  • Educator
  • Healthcare

Applications to serve are available on the County’s website at www.co.walton.fl.us. The application can be obtained by accessing the link from the homepage. An application can also be obtained from the Administration office by calling (850) 892-8155. Applicants are encouraged to attach a resume and/or a letter detailing why and under which area of expertise they would be a good fit on this council.

The Board of County Commissioners will make their selections and notify those selected.

They need to add another category- Cultural Arts, which has such a strong impact in our community. Local Arts non/ profits and artists all suffered tremendously after the spill, and should have representation on this council. South Walton is nothing without the arts- it is what makes us unique from the other communities.

They also need to add "Retirees" to the list.
