Walton County Taxpayer's Association Meeting

New posts
Walton County starting salary for teachers is $34,700. Spoken like a true repub wanting vouchers for private education.

Do teachers get paid year round on a bi-weekly basis, even when school is out for the two months during summer, the month or so during Christmas break, and other break times like spring break? Something I've always wondered.

They get paid for the months they work, but most districts give the individual the option of spreading those 10 months of salary over 12 months. Some places do this "in-house," other places use an opt-in method via a credit union.

Back in the day when I was still in the classroom we didn't have that option and we had to do it ourselves with a savings account. Then the school board figured out that they could benefit by holding the money for those two months and collecting interest. For me, that interest difference equaled about $12/yr. I was more than willing to sacrifice that in order to not have to go through the hassles.

My spouse gets 14 checks a year. 12 for the regular teaching contract, 2 for the days she puts in after school ends and before school starts.

Where did I say I wanted vouchers for private education? I want teacher's salaries doubled, tripled, quadrupled, whatever as long as its more.

I was trying to figure that out as well.

Trust me, I'm a pro...
I know pro-voucher language when I hear it, and that was not it. You may be pro-voucher, but you couldn't tell it from that post.
