Where do the socks go?

I put my dirty clothes in the hamper. Then wash them & put them in dryer. Over the course of 6 months I have ended up with 11 socks with no match. Laundry room is connected to bathroom..
So tell me where do the clean socks go?? ( Reminds of Cat Stevens song "Where do the children play")

Any ideas???? & am I the only 1 this happens to.

I would say gremlins or ornery elves sneak in during the night and switch some of your socks with my socks. My socks are all just black or white, but there is always an odd number of them.
