White House Now Says War in Libya Open Ended

New posts
I have said on many occasions that Iraq was a bad mistake but for the life of me, I cannot understand why some cannot see the parallels so obvious between Iraq and Libya. There is no reason for us to be there, either.

“Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it”.

We need to stay the hell out of conflicts in the Middle East/North Africa/West Asia.

The reason is oil. We need to fix that or we will continue to go to war to the detriment of our country.

The US has not been able to supply its own oil since before I was born, prices continue to go up, and most still see no reason to change our ways. China and Yemen have been smart enough to adopt the Pickens plan.

Come on Scooter! 90% of the American public do not know who T. Boone Pickens is, let alone what his "plan" is all about. We should have started correcting our energy problem in the 1990's and we kept saying it won't fix the current crisis. They are still saying the same thing today so now the next crisis won't get fixed either.

The only crisis we have is a big business controls America crisis. The energy situation could have been fixed ages ago if government had wanted to. But it wasn't because of big business and their lobbyists.

As Futurebeachbum stated, makes no difference who is in office, the game is the same, only the players change.

The hypocrisy occurs when someone posits that it makes a difference who is President.

No matter who is President, they dance when their owners pull the strings. The owners say attack Iraq, they do it. The owners say attack Libya, they do that to. Ultimately, the folks with the power (and the money) own the office and pull the strings. That's why "Change you can believe in" turns out to be the S.O.S. As long as this kind of megamoney controls the political process, it won't make a whit of difference which candidate wins.

The same thing to varying degrees applies to the Congress as well.

So should we give the owners credit for taking out Bin Laden? Where were the owners during the last administration? I guess we must have changed ownership. In any event, here's to the owners. Thank you for pulling our president's strings.

We can blame the "owners", the politicians, etc. all we want, but at the end of the day we are the ones actively choosing to drive SUVs, biatching about being forced to switch lightbulbs, poo-pooing alternative energy, surrounding ourselves with plastic, and continuing to use more and more oil.

We choose to be dependent on oil multiple times a day.

Big business profits off it, but we are the ones using it - despite many severe reality checks about what that choice means.
