dream house, or nightmare.......

Wow, they sure got in over their heads.
I could never live in a house that large--though I kind of like its outward appearence.
$6,000.00 for a dog run?
I hope they will be able to get out of the mess they are in.

It sounds like a wonderful home, but I'd sold that thing and taken the cash to build something more to my budget. They still would have come out ahead, poor things.

I would have sold it in a heart beat! Then I would have moved to SOWAL!!!!!:clap_1: :clap_1: :clap_1: :clap_1:

"In the 10 years that HGTV has run the contest, the Cruzes are the only winners who've chosen to live in the Dream Home.

Most of the rest sold, happily pocketing the cash. The Cruzes say they too had offers, for millions. But as soon as Don saw the house, he was determined to find a way to make it home
."

These two paragraphs say it all; what were the Cruz's thinking? With he not working and she earning $40,000, how on earth did they think they could survive? That $250,000 is pocket change against a house like that!

I hope they sell the house quickly before they get any more buried in debt. They could have sold that house at the beginning and still bought a more modest dream home.

The house is gorgeous! Can you imagine what a house like that on the beach in SoWal would sell for?;-)

unfortunately a lot of people in this area are in the same boat - they took out mortgages on these huge house while the interest was super low thinking hey we can afford this house payment, not considering everything that goes along with it ie the property taxes, utilities, etc.

i will stay in my dinky little house thank you very much.... it ain't much but it will be paid for before long...
