Cork On the Ocean

directionally challenged
My parents are in Hawaii. We haven't heard from them since Saturday and we aren't sure if they were on land or a ship. We also don't know the name of the cruise line that they were taking for part of the trip.

Does anyone know how a ship on water between those islands would be impacted by an earthquake of that magnitude? We haven't really heard anything about any cruise lines except NCL and we don't think that's the one. Any ideas of who to call would help.

Thanks, guys. We're kinda worried cause they ALWAYS call us and answer their phones.

I am so sorry Cork but I do believe if there had of been any problems with ships it would be all over the news by now. We will keep you and your family in our prayers.

Cork, I agree with BB. We would have heard if something happened. Think about it, the media would BE ALL OVER IT!!!!

I bet they are drinkin, eating, relaxin which is what they should be doin. I am sure if there was something wrong you would hear.....

I just looked to see if there is a crusie line registry help desk on google, but couldn't find anything. I am sure like BB said, if something were amiss, would have heard about it already. I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks BB and Mango, I know you are right because you would think the cruise line would contact the media if they weren't in communication with one of their ships. I think they have some way to keep communication even when normal channels are down. I can't believe my poor mom and dad are having such bad luck. Poor sweeties.

Also, remember that cell phones are really useless in a natural disaster. It may seem like their phones are ringing and they are not answering, but after Katrina the same thing happened. I couldn't get a signal out, and didn't get messages people left for me delivered to my voicemail until a week or two later. Try a text message...for some reason those got through when nothing else could.

One goes to voicemail after 3 rings and one immediately. They are supposed to be getting home Thursday and I know their plane stops in Denver so hopefully they will at least call from Denver and if they don't, I guess my sister will still show to pick them up at the airport. I'm sure everything is fine but I know how long it takes when communications are down like that to know if everyone is safe.

Cork, quite often the airlines know where someone is originating from, so try calling the airline and ask them what cruise line they are on. They may know. The travel agent may have input that info in the system.
