Going to Washington D.C. in two weeks with my sister and a couple of girlfriends. Any recommendations on restaurants, attractions, etc.?

I haven't been since the 8th grade. I have a feeling this trip will be more fun!!! Going to try not to get kicked out of Mt. Vernon again! :rolling:

Many thanks.

Stop teasing us and tell us how to get kicked out of Mt. Vernon.

Skip the Washington monument and go up in the Old Post Office building- ride the old elevator to the top- great views and no crowds.

You're quite the little traveler here lately...

Do the Mall at night- sit on the top step of the Lincoln Memorial, and just sit there. It is amazing.

If you can get out to the Potomac on the Maryland side- the canal towpath is really cool.

Not sure if you will have time, but a drive through Georgetown (outskirts of DC) is quite nice, beautiful homes and there are also grayt restaurants there on the Potomac.

Great tip! I did actually go there during my last trip. All I remember about it is helping my best friend pick out a new baseball cap to impress the girl he liked! Odd little memory.

The Mt Vernon story is not that exciting. Let's just say you should stay inside the ropes. They frown on off-roading.:idontno:

Thanks, Mango!

Actually staying within walking distance of Georgetown.
