An inch of snow...in Charleston and Savannah!

New posts
I live on a mountain (at least that is what they call it around here  ). I may have seen 2 pieces of sleet

:D I hear ya. Just like the two flakes of snow we see here every year.

Y'all are welcome to come to my house anytime it snows this Winter here in New York.
Please bring shovels, sno-blowers, wet weather boots and gloves, an eskimo coat, hats, handwarmers, earmuffs, and of course, hot coco.

Ain't it a b*tch putting on all that stuff? And then you have to throw it all in the dryer when you get back inside!

I can see it now, BB showing up with her pink diamond encrusted shovel.
You would have to build the bonfire gull. :rolling:

Who puts on any stuff? ;-)

This brings to mind the first time mr. dd took me to kansas city. we drove up and about the time we got to northern oklahoma, the snow was blowing sideways, in kansas it was a freakin' blizzard (well, to me it was). But everytime we stopped, we had to put on coats, hats, gloves. Then, when you get in the ladies room, you gotta take all that stuff off, and then put it back on to go back to the car, and then take it off again once you get in the car. That was when I decided I could never live any further north than Dallas.

I will NOT and am NOT missing the NY winters.
Nothing will make me miss that.
Not to mention, it was 90 degrees when I left LA yesterday. Now it's in the 30s in the ham.

Until I spent a few weeks in January with my daughter at MIT, I thought boots, gloves, big down coats, handwarmers, earmuffs, and (don't forget) scarves were just fashion accessories. Heck, in that cold weather they're necessary for survival, not just for waiting for public transportation, but for getting a cab. It was so cold in Cambridge that I gave my daughter extra allowance to take a cab to/from classes. No way I'd want to walk half a mile from the dorm to 77 Mass Ave, and I sure wasn't going to force her to do that. No wonder she was anxious to get back to The South. Heck, for three months I was treated for dermatitis from dry skin after my visit.

My husband is from Madison, WI. He hasn't lived there since he was 17 and left for college. He despises dealing with the cold weather.

Truth is the snow is very nice around Christmas. Nothing like walking around NYC with light snow and big flakes and the sound scrunching under your feet. If you are at home, its beautiful to watch sitting inside with a fire going and a hot drink, or breaking out the sled and going sleigh riding.

It can be tough though for those who have to shovel a car out or drive to work. Depending on how good or bad the winter is (we have had some mild ones) by February though it gets a little tiring and everyone is ready for a warm vacation. That's how I found SoWal. I couldnt get a flight anywhere on a an island because everyone gets the same feeling by then here.
If I lived in SoWal, I would probably have to come back to NY for the holidays and Fall foliage.
Guess every place has their pros and cons. :idontno:
