Police Chase yesterday in Pt Washington

New posts
I take a day off from the board and look what happens.

Don't know if the fella has been caught yet; spouse has been on a three-days-off ho-ho-ho spell (though he did go help them look for him when deputies started showing up in our yard). They know who it is and where he lives...he is a local boy (Freeport) and has been in trouble since he was a juvenile, mostly for theft and for dope. To this point, he has never harmed anyone except himself (yet), and was thus not considered a threat to society at large. Some of y'all who are Realtors and have been here a long time probably know his mom.

It is reported that he had a cell phone so it is believed that he probably crossed through the woods (possibly to E. Point Washington Rd, if he got brave enough to negotiate the branch), and got a ride.

I do have a call in to find out if they got him or not. If/when I hear, I'll let you know.

Update, Friday 11:15 a.m.

Subject has not been located, but based on past behavior, does not present a great threat. Very simply, he was on probation and was evidently violating his probation just before he ran. Happens frequently.

He is not believed to be in the Point Washington area any longer. However, do be vigilant around your property, as we should always be anyway. Be sure to keep your vehicles and the doors to your home locked. When outside, carry your cell phone. Note: I am the world's worst at this.

If you see anything suspicious, please call 911 or call the Walton County Sheriff's Office at 267-2000.

Hopefully, Peaboy will chime in here... You will not like what they will do to your dogs!!!! Can you say Pepper spray!

Ok Bobby J, I guess I will chime in now. Yes, I am well aware of the chase and the fugitive. The man hunt continued through private properties. Including mine. I am working with the sheriffs department to find out who, but someone seemed to have pepper sprayed two of my older dogs. Both over 13 years old and both in a fenced yard unable to attack anybody.

To make matters worse, whomever did this to my boys did not put us on notice. When I came home Wednesday night, as usual, I loved on my dogs, showering them with hugs and kisses. I was then overwhelmed with buring in my eyes, nose, ears, and entire upper body. I noticed that my hound dog could not open his eyes. I them could not open mine.

Rachel called the sheriffs office to find out info, while I showered off. Big mistake as pepper spray runs and activates with the addition of water. After several hours we were in touch with the proper men at the sheriffs department. They then told me not to shower and to use cold rag to get the spray off of my face. A bit late.

We were not put on any notice that they sprayed my dogs and that they thought a suspect was on our property. We are still working with the authorites to find out more info. We are greatly disturbed over this issue.

However, I can not say who did this as the sheriffs office has yet to confirm that they were involved.....

as of last night, the suspect was still at large according to the sheriffs department.

bingo!

This morning, Sheriff's Deputies were still combing the area.

Peaboy, that sucks about your dogs getting peppersprayed. Maybe the guilty party was in your yard, where your dogs may have been a threat. I certainly hope that the person who sprayed them was not doing it just because they could. If so, we certainly wouldn't want that person to be carrying a gun and following behind us with lights flashing.

If it was a Sheriff's Officer, shouldn't the Sheriff's Office be able to tell if an Officer's pepper spray had been fired?

I know that there are a good many great individuals on our Sheriff's staff, but boy-howdy, doesn't it seem like they are lacking some serious leadership?

Would it have hurt to have publicized this just a tiny bit? You know, if this is a local gentleman, and nobody knows he's on the run, he could just show up at his relative's house to hang out for a while and they'd have no idea they were harboring a fugitive (and likely to get their dogs pepper-sprayed).

Peaboy, I'm sorry about your dogs. I hope they (and you) are recovering well.
