Beach Comber
Hello! I'd like to get some opinions. I am in Ohio, and my daughter is getting married on Grayton Beach on May 18th. We are starting to panic b/c weather reports say there is a 60% chance of scattered t'storms that day! Can anyone tell me if this sounds accurate? :idontno:

Thanks!

:welcome: Welcome Sassysmob!

We have no idea if the forecast is accurate, or not. The forecast always says one thing, and the weather does another. And unfortunately, we really really REALLY want rain right now. The wedding has a better chance of being burned and smoked out these days than rained out.:bang:

So- let's have LOTS of rain between now and the 18th, and a beautiful day for your daughter's wedding!

Sad, but very true! Coastal weather is nearly impossible to predict especially for a small area. It can rain buckets for a few minutes and then be beautiful, but it's mostly sunny all the time in the summer.

If you don't like the weather here, just wait 5 minutes.

:welcome: and have a Grayt wedding!!

Thanks for the input! Yeah, we've heard all about the fires on the news...we didn't realize it was right there in the SoWal area. We love the area, we've been vacationing there for years! We will certainly pray for the rain you need down there throughout the week, and have well wishes for those affected. (We just hope it can hold off for a few hours on Friday!) Take care!

Sometimes the weather is why we go to the beach and sometimes the weather is why we leave the beach. Relax, it will be perfect. There are a lot more things to worry about before, during, and especially AFTER a wedding.

Weather on the immediate coast tends to be drier than inland. Even though there is a 60% chance of rain, that really only translates to about a 30% chance on the beach.

Now if you go a few miles inland the weather is different. (Seabreeze effect).

That is so very true! Fob and I have been married 31 years now, and have learned (the hard way) to try and not sweat the small stuff! mob's big worry right now is how is she gonna get this " small intimate gathering of family & friends" paid for without going bankrupt!:idontno: But I know it will all be perfect regardless of the weather. We are going to have such a great time with all our family and friends, and it will be so much fun sharing our special vacation spot with the ones that have never been to the area.

Like others said, beach weather is hard to predict. It is particularly hard to predict a week out. I don't trust any weather forecast that is more than three days away. Next week, we will be in a more typical summertime pattern, which means there could be a shower most any day. Don't sweat it and have a good time.

I just wanted to post a followup note on my daughter's wedding on May 18th on Grayton Beach. It was absolutely perfect! We couldn't have asked for a nicer day. Thank you to everyone who wished us good thoughts and beautiful weather.Tamra at Sunshine Weddings did a lovely ceremony, Christina at Nouveau Flowers gave Sassy exactly the flowers she wanted, and George at Smiling Fish Cafe provided a perfect intimate reception spot. It was all very bittersweet though, Sassy'sgrandMOB unfortunately had a small stroke on the 11th. It was a very tough and emotional couple of days, but thank God she is a strong Kentucky bred woman, and improved enough in a few days to indicate that the wedding plans should go on, even though she would not be able to make it. So we all dried our tears, packed our bags and made the trip, leaving her in the good hands of my stepfather, my brother and some excellent doctors and staff at the hospital. We took lots of pictures and video, and are planning on having another party as soon as she is up and around. She has promised to still do the electric slide with Sass as soon as she is able!!

 ...thanks for the update! You really did have the best weather possible!!!
