 is this related in any to OMBs?

I'm pretty sure that everything is related to OMBs.

Think about it: If you were a Japanese Beetle (or even a lady bug, or a honeybee, or a homeless butterfly) and you were flying into a yard to snack on a rose (or make sweet love to another beetle) and saw OMBs hanging there, wouldn't you lose your apetite, for food or love?

Forget the insecticide, now I need to find a pair. I'll start a new trend in the neighborhood.

Don't forget the banana bags too. Perfect combination.

:D I'm a gardener.

(But I have a B.S. in Philosophy, and am currently working on my master's in music ed...I'm kind of a weirdo.)

Join the club, NoHall. I have a B.S. in Food Science and I work as a Master Gardener. Go figure.

OL, those beetles think Rose of Sharon is caviar. They love to feast on it. Sorry. Like everyone says, the yellow bags are a wash. They kill the beetles, but they do as good a job of attracting your neighbor's beetles (that might have otherwise stayed at the neighbor's) so I think it's all a wash.

And speaking of wash, this is what I do when I'm feeling particularly mean towards those varmints. I go outside with a great big bowl of soapy water and I push the beetles off the leaf and into the swimming pool, where they drown. Then I wash the bowl out and bring it back into the kitchen. Just kidding! (about the bowl, not about the mandatory death swim) I don't know if you'd like to do that, though. You can get quite a collection of corpses pretty fast doing that.

Maybe Dylan and his friends would like to play the beetle death pool game. They've been playing a little lightening bug baseball lately.

Tootsie! I thought about you while I was gardening today!

I bought some of those ornamental sweet potato vines for a client, but I could only find them in hanging baskets. There were 3 in each basket, so I had to separate them. I took them out and, lo and behold, they had giant purple OMBs.

Of course I didn't have a camera.
