My nephew is selling an Iphone

SoWal Insider
My 11 year old nephew was selected to attend the Congressional Youth Leadership Council Conferences in Washington D.C., and has been approaching companies to sponsor him.

The Apple people sold him not 1, but 2 Iphones at todays release.
Apparently, they are sold out everywhere.
He sold one on the way out of the store, (had to go home for dinner  )and has one left.
He is using the money for his expenses to attend the conference.
(hotel, meals etc.)

Capitalistic, but he is considering becoming an environmental lawyer. He hated seeing crap left on the beach, and came with me on walks early am and carried some garbage off.

if you are interested in purchasing it, please drop a pm with your bid.
He also will be doing a press release with the name of his donors.
His cost was $640.
Apparently they are selling them on e-bay for ridiculous amounts.

Get your dream phone and help a future young leader.

Mango, I think your nephew is on to something - good luck to him!

I ventured into our local Apple store at 8:00 PM and was  'd to find them still in stock. There were probabbly 250 people in line when they opened the doors at 6:00 PM.

Maybe I should have bought an extra one for re-sale....

I spent over 2 hours playing with the working displays and discussing features and functions with the employees. It's an amazing little device with lots of horsepower, and much smaller than most people thought it would be.

First impressions were quite good overall.

We're going back in this morning for another.... test drive ;-)

They were sold out in his area at 2 stores. Same thing a line of lots of people. He didn't wait. He would have sold the other already, but he left this morning for vacation with his family for a week.
My sister didn't want a mob jumping him, so the first sale was done hush hush. He certainly isn't looking to be in the scalping business. Just trying to raise money for his trip. We weren't keen on the idea, but he was insistent. A learning experience. Donors usually are from the State where the child was selected, but he had to move from Texas to Ga., so he is trying to be creative since he can not personally visit donors as is recommended by the CYLC.

If he doesn't sell it on e-bay or elsewhere, he has the option to return the unclosed box.

if anyone is interested, it will not be available till he gets back home in a week.
He's off to save the N.C. beaches.

If you're gonna be crazy and spend that kind of money on ebay why not buy one from Mango's nephew where the money would go for a good cause?:idontno:

I'm sure you are very proud of him Mango, I would be!

Thanks gull. We are proud of him for being selected to represent Texas.

I wasn't crazy about the idea personally of selling these, but hey some adults make a living selling on e-bay. :idontno:
It was his idea and sometimes a parent needs to let a kid try something and he got them easily so he can do it from the Apple peeps as lesson in capitalism.
Besides he was at a disadvantage since he had to move and couldn't contact donors personally. He's being creative.

I am proud he is trying to raise the funds which my sister fronted already. It's expensive to stay in Washington for a week with Congressmen. So the CYLC has a kit showing the kids how to raise the funds via sponsors and do press releases.

I forgot to mention it's an 8GB (nobody seems to want the 4GB and hear those may be available still) and he is asking less than anyone else on
e-bay or craigs list. He said he can also overnight it while on vacation.

 Hi Mango! What a great idea. I wish your nephew much luck!!! If I had some extra $$$$ I would buy it from him. What is his address or just PM me....I will send him a contribution to help with the fund raising. I consider it a privilege to help a future young leader!!!!

And, he's so cute too!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

 Aww, thanks Kat, but the intention was just to sell the phone for educational purposes, not solicit sponsors here on Sowal.
I was concerned about his trying to sell it on his own.

I'll let him know of your offer though.
