Venison Needed

New posts
I need to clarify this with the vet later, but I think she meant that the protein needed to come from the wild -- something about the natural diet of the deer making the protein more pure, nothing for her liver to have to break down.

That won't work, Ellie follows the Kabballah. :D

Thank you! Thank you! Funny, you were the last person I'd have thought to ask.

And thanks everyone for their kind words about Ellie.

OK - then ask her about kosher beef which you can get at Publix. You might find some free range beef at For The Health Of It. Also ask some restaurants that serve game if they can help you out.

Glad your Ellie is okay now. How about baked chicken or turkey without salt? Doesn't puppy food have a lot more protein? My MIL makes a special meat loaf for her Sammy.

Punzy, Glad to hear Ellie is better. You might discuss the matter w/ the folks
at UNLEASHED Pet Food store in SanDestin. They are all about natural high protein pet foods. Good Luck!

Sorry to hear about Ellie. She is a lucky dog though by having the best mom ever!!! I do  the visual of Skunky out looking for her next meal.

I am so glad to know that Ellie is doing better. I hope you find that venison for her!!!!!

I think Punzy and I should make a field trip to Bass Pro Shop, find some girl cammo clothes, get us some sort of deer rifle, buy a big a$$ pickup truck, and head out into the woods.

When we get there, we can set up our wine and tapas bar in the cool deer stand we're going to build. While we are sipping our wine, eating our yummy tapas, and flipping through the latest issue of Vanity Fair, the deer will stop by to see what's going on, since they are probably used to beer drinking, farting men, and the sight of us will be surprising. Easy pickings.

Oops- one little problem- I don't think we could shoot anything! It would be a bad ending to a shopping trip and a great cocktail hour.

Do any local gourmet restaurants serve venison? I'd call and see if they can order you some from their meat supplier or would be willing to give you their trimmings.

Otherwise, there are a variety of organic farmers who raise venison and elk and have mail order services, but that can get $$$.
