Okaloosa Regional Airport NOT going away...

New posts
Will, they were running a special for Christmas holidays.

It's not hard for me to find out what the loads were for those flights. If they ran chock full, the city pairs could potentially be set up in the future. This may have been a veiled Litmus test if you know what I mean. Give me a couple days to dig up that info...

updated info from NWFDN.......http://www.nwfdailynews.com/article/11328
A mass e-mail sent last week by the Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce says that Eglin Air Force Base is closing the Okaloosa Regional Airport by 2010.

The only problem with the e-mail is that it’s not true.

Well I am glad that the airport is not closing, but I will be voicing my concern over the mis information at the next after hours dinner (this Wednesday) who wants to be a guest with me?

I talked to my friend in Network Analysis. Those flights were one off schedule additions that allowed us (Delta) to utilize aircraft that were not being used due to holiday schedule adjustments in heavy business traveller markets that were trimmed for a couple weeks. Rather than leaving the aircraft parked they were used in areas where they could generate revenue. The flights actually did fairly well and will pop up again in future holidays. If the traffic warrants it, the city pairs might be added permanently...

Here is the latest email from the PCB chamber:

Dear Chamber Member:

Our Chamber distributed an email last Friday, requesting your support of the new Northwest Florida Regional Airport. I am asking you to please disregard the last comment in the bulleted list regarding the closure of the Ft. Walton Airport in 2010. We pulled information from a variety of sources, and this inadvertantly was placed in the email.

Our goal has always been to promote Regionalism and work together. We are focused on the growth of this area with our Regional Partners, and truly believe this new Regional Airport is a step in the right direction.

We apologize deeply for any confusion or distress this has caused.

Sincerely,

Debi Knight

President / CEO

The Greater Panama City Beaches Chamber of Commerce
