Beach Comber
Hi all,
Would love to hear advice on the beaches of 30-A....we have been visiting Destin/Sandestin area for 25 years+ and still love the beautiful sand and water but hate how congested and commercial it has become. We are looking to rent a house as close to the beach as possible....2 adults and 3 young adults. Have rec'd several quotes from vrbo.com and vacationrentals.com. Blue Mountain,Santa Rosa,Grayton and Seagrove is what we are looking into...would like to hear pros and cons.
Thanks.:chill:

Re: Best beach for vacationing

:welcome: My first choice would be Grayton, all things being equal, but if it's a matter of what you can get for the money then you can't go wrong with anyone. Santa Rosa and Blue Mountain are the quietest of all of them, I think. Grayton and Seagrove are busier but nothing like what you are used to. I predict you will have a wonderful time and never go back to Sandestin again.

we only have pros for the entire length of 30A. depends on your budget - but you can't really go wrong with any of the communities. try beachrentalsofsouthwalton.com - they seem to have properties all up and down 30A, both north and south of it. we stayed in seaside for years before building our own house in seagrove. you have a lot to choose from! :welcome:

Thanks ya'll.....the prices have been pretty comparable that's why I posted to get advice. Got a $2200/wk quote on a 3BD/2BA with private pool on Magnolia Street in Grayton, approx.100 yds to beach and another Seagrove property similar amenties for about $2400.
I appreciate your time and effort in replying so promptly.

I don't think you can go wrong with either but I'd have to go w/ Grayton.

I'd have to go with Seagrove. I adore the ambiance of Grayton, but the walk to the water is too long. Frequently, even in the winter, I just like to go down to the beach and stick my toes in the water for a few minutes and let the surf bury my feet in the sand. I love the way that feels. It's a little over a one minute walk for me to do that at Seagrove. Even if I had a beachfront home at Grayton, it would take longer than that.

I don't mean to disparage Grayton. I love the "Old Florida" feeling there. And the Red Bar. There are tradeoffs. For me, toes in the surf on demand is more important.

So, looks like Grayton and Seagrove have more rave reviews. Thanks for the detailed info it is sooo helpful.
Lassiez le Bon Temps Roulet :):drink2:

The further east you go on 30A the more steps you have to clmb to get back up from the beach...Rosemary is an exception because it has a winding access in some of the walkovers to access the beach. The beach is definitely the best in Grayton...seems to be more beach

There is also Inlet Beach.

Gotta go with Seagrove myself. Point well taken about the steps. You swap one issue for another.

They are all GRAYT!!!
